BEFORE YOU CONTINUE ...
HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT WHAT ADOPTING MEANS?
Expenses

It is very important to keep in mind that the animal must always be lokked after and cared for. It must be fed correctly and, most importantly, it must have access to veterinary care and check-ups, with the economic costs that this implies.

Needs

The animal must go out for a walk every day of the week. You also need to educate them. This will take time and a lot of patience. They will become another member of your family that you must treat as such.

Holidays

At the time you adopt you must know what will happen when you decide to make a getaway taking advantage of your holidays. You will have to take into account the new member of your family. Think that you'll probably have to modify your holiday options.

Family

All family members must be informed of the adoption. If you live alone, think about who can take care of the animal when you can't. If you have children, keep in mind that, as much as they can promise it, they will never be 100% responsible for the animal. Think that this is no toy.

Future

Where do you see yourself in 10 years from now on? Many of the dogs in our shelter have been abandoned due to changes in the life of their former guardians: they moved to a new house, had children, a new job, etc. If you would not abandon a child of yours for any of these circumstances, you do not abandon your pet.

Purpose

An animal should not enter your life with a purpose, ever. Having a dog to be the guard of the house or just to keep you company when you go running should not be the reason you decide to adopt. It could be that he stops being a great runner or prefers to take long naps instead of watching the house.

ADOPTION PROCESS

   1

First of all, the pre-adoption form must be filled out. It is not necessary to be clear about who you want your new family member to be.

   2

Our goal will always be to ensure the best possible future for the animal. Therefore, the vedama team will review the form and, if it is suitable, we will contact you to make an appointment to go to the shelter.

   3

At the shelter, once everything is clear, you would take the dog in foster care for 15 days. The reception is necessary, because during these 15 days the animal could not adapt to your rhythm of life or, unfortunately, you decided not to continue with the process.

   4

If the reception was satisfactory, the adoption would be signed. The adoption is free, but at the time of formalizing it you must pay us the initial veterinary costs, which include the chip and passport, the rabies vaccine and castration/sterilization.
